Three New Driving Forces: Mindray Animal Medical Leads the Industry Forward to Sustainable Growth

Recently, Mr. Chen Xing (Raymond), General Manager of Mindray Animal Medical, sat down for an exclusive interview with the Meet the VIP show of the East and West Small Animal Veterinarian Conference (WESAVC). He shared how the company has unlocked "new visions" about high-end solutions for the animal medical industry, delivered "new contents" for veterinarian cultivation, and provided "new impetuses" for the industry to grow in a sustainably.

01 Staying ahead of the curve to unlock "new visions" about high-end solutions

At this year's WESAVC, Mindray Animal Medical's booth was the most striking of all, where a variety of high-end products and solutions were released. What "new visions" has your company brought at this year's WESAVC for the animal medical industry?

While Mindray has been active in the animal medical industry for almost two decades, this is just the second year that Mindray Animal Medical displayed as an independent exhibitor at the event. Last year, when we participated in the exhibition for the first time, our booth covered an area of over 70 m2. One year later, we managed to exhibit the most significant booth space among all the exhibitors, which is 270 m2.

The WESAVC is an essential platform for showcasing our products and solutions and for connecting and interacting with our peers. With this in mind, we demonstrated at this event three revolutionary high-end solutions spanning three of our major product lines:

Vetus 9: premium care for animals

The first one is Vetus 9, a premium-high-end ultrasound system. Earlier this year, we launched the ZST+ (ZONE Sonography® Technology+) platform for veterinary use, improving its equally high-end predecessor for human use. Based on our insights into animal medical needs in clinical settings, we optimized the platform for veterinary use and embedded it into Vetus 9. The ZST+ platform and Vetus 9 scored several "firsts" in veterinary use.

6-diff Hematology analyzer: benchmark for 6-diff, special friendly for feline

The second one is our 6-part Differential Hematology Analyzer for Veterinary Use.

The analyzer is designed for the demanding requirements of laboratory department, and examination rooms in hospitalsIt represents the highest level of technology in the industry. In addition, the analyzer is ideal for the hematology analysis of feline samples. I believe that the analyzer will set a "new benchmark" for the hematology analysis of animals.

Perioperative Care Solution: bringing surgical safety to new heights.

We also demonstrated theVetNet IT Solution. It is not only a solution that "revolves around surgery" but an IT system that consolidates data from hospital departments and every single step in the diagnosis and treatment process. The solution provides unprecedented seamless monitoring of patients from admission to anesthesia, surgery, postoperative care, ICU, and at discharge. Veterinarians can access the patient's real-time physical conditions from any device anytime, anywhere, and intervene quickly. This IT system is expected to bring surgical safety to new heights.

With these pioneering high-end solutions, we hope to offer new ideas for veterinarians and other industrial peers to unlock "new visions" for the industry.

02 Advanced systematic courses provide "new content" for veterinarian cultivation.

Besides developing excellent products, Mindray Animal Medical also committed in promoting the lifelong education of veterinarians. What "new content" have you unveiled at this event for veterinarian cultivation?

This year, we officially announced the establishment of "MindVet Academy." We position "MindVet Academy" as an "academic exchange platform for global veterinarians." It serves veterinarians both in China and worldwide. We have held about a thousand online and offline training sessions in the past.

The idea behind the establishment of MindVet Academy is: veterinarians are eager for on-going knowledge advancements. However, commercially available training courses today are fragmented and unsystematic. Veterinarians are unable to excel professionally upon completing such disorderly courses.

Therefore, we teamed up with the top-notch experts in the field to deliver a series of methodical, and superior academic courses. Through six months or one year of ongoing enrichment, the trainees acquire the expertise and comprehensive techniques that are applicable in respective field. The teaching ranges from the fundamental to frontiers, in theory and practice.

At this year's WESAVC, we embarked the "MindVet Academy" journey and positioned it as an advanced training program. It features four courses in medical imaging, anesthesia, minimally invasive surgery, and laboratory testing which are areas frequently encountered by veterinarians in clinical settings and aligned with our product lines.

We look forward to veterinarians' active participation in our program and reaping success from it. MindVet Academy is our contribution to the animal medical community: to empower veterinarians at every step along their learning journey and delivering "new content" for veterinarian cultivation.

03 Looking more broadly at the global market to provide "impetuses" that drive sustainable growth

In just one year, Mindray Animal Medical has launched many game-changing diagnostic solutions and quickly gained satisfactions of veterinarians around the world. Can you tell us what "new impetuses" are behind the constant innovation and fast growth of Mindray Animal Medical?

First, the animal medical industry is rapidly aligning with human medicine. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mindray, Mindray Animal Medical has the advantage of drawing upon Mindray's time-tested experience in human medicine to envision the forefront of veterinary medicine. While developing new products, we conform our proven technologies in human medicine to suit applications in the veterinary field.

The first step to successful innovation is understanding what veterinarians need in clinical practice, and I can give you a real-life example.

In the first half of this year, I assembled and lead a team of over 30 staff, including R&D, marketing, and user services. Together we conducted an in-depth marketing survey in the western veterinary market.

We intended to leverage the field survey knowledge to structure our products, services, and solutions, and to earnestly wish to satisfy the desire of veterinarians in clinical practice.

We uncovered that veterinarians still have unmet needs, even in the most developed markets. Veterinarians may have vague ideas of what they need, whether for exploring the frontiers of the field or improving clinical procedures. Still, they need help to describe it completely and accurately.

Thus, the first steps is to identify and define their needs, We spent tremendous effort on innovation and product development. To be impactful, we must go beyond the competitive pricing. The products shall become a necessity to our customers and alleviate their day-to-day issues in practice.

Years of experience led us to realize a supremely designed product; besides obliging strict quality assurance, technological advancement, and cost-effectiveness, it shall fulfill the customer's desire in the clinical setting. With this in mind, we are determined to offer products, services, and diagnostic solutions that are compelling and influential in the market.

And this constitutes the "new impetuses" we hope to provide to help drive sustainable growth for the industry.
